Overview
For this project, I created an interactive data visualization explainer called “The Show: How MLB Strategy Changed for Hitters and Pitchers.” The goal was to analyze how Major League Baseball has evolved over the last several decades by comparing pitching and hitting performance across different eras. Using historical baseball data from sources such as the Lahman Baseball Database and Baseball Databank, I examined metrics like ERA, strikeout rate, walk rate, batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. The project was designed as a journalistic-style visual article, combining written analysis with interactive charts that allow readers to explore how baseball’s competitive balance has changed over time.

Data Visualization
This project gave me the opportunity to take a large dataset and shape it into a visual story that viewers could understand and explore. A major part of the work was wrangling the data, deciding which metrics mattered most, and finding a narrative that made the evolution of MLB strategy feel clear rather than overwhelming. I wanted the final project to do more than display statistics; I wanted it to guide viewers through the data in a way that made the patterns and changes clear to understand. It helped me practice one of the most important parts of data visualization: turning complex information into a story that is accessible, interactive, and useful for an audience.
